The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Mr da Silva discussed international issues of common interest, such as climate change, desertification, water resources management and food waste reduction. Mr Kasoulides thanked Mr da Silva for FAO’s support and provision of expertise in the past, noting that today the Republic of Cyprus is a donor country, supporting FAO projects aimed at strengthening global food security. Foreign Minister Kasoulides highlighted Cyprus’ cooperation with neighboring countries in this domain, e.g. the creation of aquaculture infrastructure in Egypt.

Mr da Silva congratulated Cyprus on its commitment towards the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and complimented the Republic of Cyprus’ national voluntary review on the progress so far in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
